Hakola beds are a completely new range of products for a Finnish furniture company, Hakola. Hakola is a well-known Finnish family-owned furniture manufacturer that has been operating since 1960´s. The company is previously known especially for their range of upholstery seating and wooden furniture.
Nest, Form and Glory product families provide a new take on to sleeping. Bed is no more only some furniture piece for sleeping but rather it stands out and makes you smile. In the new scenario bed just does not blend into a room but becomes a statement furniture piece.
We have designed a bed platform that allows for personalization. All families are modular and come with different size options. There are three different size options, two leg and firmness options as well as three different headboard types to choose from. As a customer you can also dress up and personalize the designs by choosing from a wide range of color and textile options. Our ambition with the project was to create “canvases” that can be tweaked, and they still work with a very wide range of color and textile options.
“We had an idea of beds that would be hybrids of beds and sofas - you just love them you do not wanna hide them.”
NEST bed family is the true hybrid of the characters of a bed and a sofa. It is welcoming and invites everyone to have an amazing rest. Maybe in the boldest visions Nest beds can be brought in the middle of a living room.

GLORY bed family is the most classic of the three bed families. Its rounded shapes and soft appearance have a familiar and welcoming feeling, but at the same time it has a very bold character.

FORM beds have a minimalistic, bold and a very modern look. Form beds are flirting with some design and form references from the 70’s. The design has something familiar from the past, but it has been brought to the contemporary time and context.

Aarikka’s spring/summer 2017 collection has taken its inspiration from childhood memories at the lakes of Saimaa. The lived experiences in the peninsulas, beaches, and beach cliffs. The memories are drawn to the products by using, soft forms, natural tones, playful shapes, nature motives, natural materials, and colors. The Saimaa range, Aarikka’s stylishly laid-back addition, brings new and interesting shapes and playfulness to sauna spaces with its wall sconces and its towel hooks that resemble fishing floats. This range, designed by Anni Pitkäjärvi, also includes a sauna thermometer, a small and large wall shelf, a towel clip, a small and large vase as well as stylish Saimaa textiles.

Pinna is a modernized interpretation of a hat shelf. In contrast to the traditional rectangular shelf, Pinna has the shape of a half circle that forms a basket-like structure. Its central part functions as a container for scarves and gloves and the rounded edge holds hangers for coats. Pinna exists also as a version with three hooks that are attached to the inner arc. The hooks can be used to hang a coat or a purse.

Tovi -collection started from a study to explore the relation of 3 dimensional shapes and flat surfaces. We played with the idea to make a collection that gives the freedom to create variable collages on the wall. The idea was to make different kind of artefacts supporting different kinds of functions. Different materials are used in the objects. The products can be used in various places in private homes as well as in hotels for example.
