Iittala X Issey Miyake collection is a collaboration between two masters of timeless design from two sides of the world, Finland and Japan. One vision of a home with harmony. It is a unique collection of high quality ceramics, glass and home textiles that enable you to pause and enjoy the moment.
The collaboration started from a clean table, without any idea about what we should do. Concept, design and product development from the start to the launch took nearly 4 years. After the launch in 2016 the collection has been updated on a yearly basis.
PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT, COLOUR PALETTE DEVELOPMENT, DESIGN STRATEGY

The development of the Mainio Sarastus tableware series was sparked by the idea of creating a relaxed tableware set that could be used for many purposes and that took small spaces into consideration.
Target was to design items that would be light, easy to use, and stackable: a set of tableware that combined practicality, versatility, and durability.
The decoration for the Mainio tableware, Sarastus, drew inspiration from the old Ivalo decoration designed by Raija Uosikkinen in 1965. The outcome was the hand-drawn, minimalist monochrome Sarastus decoration, in which the lines and balls of the original Ivalo decoration find themselves in a new arrangement.
CONCEPT DESIGN, BRAND ARCHIVES, PATTERN DEVELOPMENT, BRAND COMMUNICATION
Arabia beloved patterns collection brings together loved patterns through-out history, but also new ones. It enables collecting and the products are easy to give as gifts. All pattern collections are developed into same shapes and price points.
The patterns have been redrawn and produced with highest focus on details. Colours have been matched as close as possible to the original, taking account the change of materials and colour recipies.
Latest addition to the collection is a set called “Esteri Tomula’s treasures” that are based on archive sketches and have not been produced before.

PRODUCT DESIGN
Uuma is a wine glass with a foot that can be made with fewer work stages than a normal wine glass. The challenge was to find a harmonious relationship between the cup and the foot-part so that the glass would look like a foot glass and still be dish-washed easily.
Uuma was in Iittala's production between 1997-2002 in two sizes, 28 cl and 38 cl.
